What is domain analysis? Why is it so important to analyze the domain and choose the domain name carefully? Well! The answer is simple! To get recognition on any search engine, you must have a complete analysis of your domain and competitors. It is way too easier now, with the help of the Semrush Domain overview.
In general, the overview of the domain provides you with the complete picture of the website’s insights i.e., its online presence. By doing the right analysis with the right domain analysis tool, everything from the domain’s organic search to paid search traffic, the backlinks, and the use of shown advertising can be viewed.
All these are just one click away on the semRush domain overview or SEMrush’s tool search bar. All you have to do is to enter the domain on the search bar. Knowing up to this point can be a bit exciting to realize. However, trust me, this is a huge lot of information that is difficult to absorb in one go.
So, let me make it easier for you and break this awesome technique of doing competitor analysis into digestible chucks. Let’s start with the dashboard of SEMrush.
Starting from the SEMrush domain analytics organic traffic search. This is the place to be when you want to see organic traffic over any website. In order to explain to you more in detail, let me take an example of Apple.
If you type Apple.com, on the search bar of SEMrush domain overview you will see organic traffic of 773.7 million worldwide.
Huge number, isn’t it? This is the average monthly number. Besides the traffic volume, this organic search data also provides you with the visibility of the number of keywords, cost of traffic, both branded and no-non branded traffic.
Here, the keywords show the number of keywords that bring the users to the domain. Whereas, branded and non-branded traffic display their respective traffic.
And there is traffic cost which shows the amount that you will require to pay on the monthly basis to rank the keywords in google ads.
With all these a value in percentage is also displayed to show the changes done in the mentioned category, as per the last update.
The next is the paid search. This reveals the competitor’s bidding information. For the given example of Apple, the number of 9.6 million visits of traffic is done on a paid basis. Just below this number, another number is given, which shows the traffic that is coming from 55.05 K keywords.
If you click this paid search traffic number, you will be brought to an advertising research report on the same page.
This gives you a deeper analysis of the domain’s paid traffic. Here, you will find the attributes like keywords, their position, the volume, CPC, and the traffic percentage.
This percentage number differs after every last update.
From the figure, the fourth in the topmost row is the block that shows the backlinks of the domain. This number shows the number of websites linking to the website that you asked for. In our example of Apple, this number is 9.1 Billion.
This number refers to the AdSense data. AdSense advertises on the websites, and semRush has a crawler that can extract information like this.
If you click the number that is mentioned on this box, it will guide you to the display advertising overview report.
In their SEMrush Domain overview tool allow you to see the total number of ads of Apple that are running which is 359.8K by 324.1 K different publishers. This is very useful information, where you can determine where your rivals are advertising.
In addition to these reports, SemRush also provides a list of more reports to analyze the competitor. To support the explanation, I have added in a few for the discussion:
If you want to better rank your website, you need to do a complete domain analysis of the competitor’s website. With the help of the semRush domain overview, you can easily expose the insights of the competitor’s website. The use of this domain analysis tool will give you the full advantage for both the organic and paid traffic data analysis to examine and leaving you sure that no gap is left behind.
