Huawei aims to develop innovative driverless cars which can carry passengers by 2025. Huawei is one of the most famous telecommunication companies and a top seller of 5G technology and smartphones.

Huawei plans to develop driverless passenger cars in 2025, said executive on Thursday as it diversifies its business in the face of US sanctions.

Making the dream of self-driving cars a reality can bring a sea change to the transportation industry, start-ups, automakers, and large tech firms are investing diligence in self-driving cars including internet search leader Baidu Inc (9888.HK).

But after Huawei made an announcement thought to develop driverless cars in 2025, large tech firms triggered their work. There is a huge possibility of tremendous change in the transportation industry after the giant firms step into the competition.

In Trump’s administration, Huawei encountered sanctions and restrictions by the US and labeled the company a threat to US national security – a charge it denies. So Huawei pivoted to smart electric vehicles and decided to expand its business.
