YouTube is making adjustments in its YouTube advertiser friendly guidelines for YouTube advertisers, allowing creators to monetize their content for more than one type.
Advertisers are allowed to run ads on more types of content, which will let the creators monetize more types of content.
With YouTube monetization rules, creators are now able to earn revenue from content that wasn’t considered suitable for advertisers before.
Here are some of the updates regarding YouTube monetization rules and the YouTube partner program.
YouTube is changing is its YouTube Advertiser Friendly Guidelines to allow monetization for more types of content. YouTube is now allowing YouTube content creators to fully monetize more types of content instead of partially monetizing it.
Creators who are a part of the YouTube Partner Program can easily guess whether the video is eligible for full or partial monetization. All they need to do is just look at the color-coded icons in YouTube Studio and they can tell if it meets the criteria.
In a video published to the Creator Insider channel, a YouTube representative states:
“Across the company, we’re aware that when you receive a yellow icon on your content it can feel as if YouTube isn’t being supportive. The YouTube Advertiser Friendly Guidelines are restrictive in some areas more than others because YouTube advertisers want the option to opt-in on some content and, in others, have no tolerance for running ads.
Examples of those kinds of areas are content that features graphic dead bodies or really detailed discussions around sexual abuse. So it’s really a balancing act for us making sure you have the best possible opportunity to monetize your content on the platform while making sure that advertisers are still happy to pay for ad space.”
YouTube says it has met with advertisers to make a case for some responsible policy updates.
In simple words, now YouTube content creators have more opportunities to fully monetize their content, whereas previously some of its content have received the yellow icon.
Now YouTube is coming out of specific areas, leaving the scope of the Yellow icon and heading into the scope of the green icon. YouTube Advertiser Friendly Guidelines changes will apply to the types of content following below:
YouTube is going to take the content related to education, documentary, or news content under consideration to be fully monetized.
Content on Controversial issues is also considered for monetization where the content isn’t graphic and it’s an objective discussion of controversial issues.
The areas of adult themes delivered through the context humor are also considered for monetization. This kind of content may include adult dating jokes, for instance.
YouTube content creators are now allowed to monetize thier content that uses moderation within the first 30 seconds of the video.
These changes are effective as of April 2021.
